This is very funny! Vegetable essentialism, art historical division. It is possibly no coincidence that it also looks a lot like those bell thingies that Morris dancers brandish...
I guess it struck me since prior to coming to England I'd never seen brussells sprouts on their stalks before. But I think when you look at a lot of the British surrealists and 40s romantics there are things like hop poles and oasts everywhere. So why not the vegetables!
